Craftsmanship with a stance in Megève

When we develop new MyHomes homes, we pay attention to detail, sustainability and quality. We’ve just handed over the keys to the MH05 Premium association, who can look forward to enjoying their luxurious chalet apartment in fashionable Megève. The home has been renovated with unique carpentry details that define the look of the entire apartment with its rustic recycled wood.

SUSTAINABLE RECYCLED WOOD

Old wood is a popular material to use in Megève, and has therefore also been used in the renovation of previous MyHomes homes to create a mountain feel. The wood got its name because no new trees are cut down during production, but instead planks and beams from old houses and barns are recycled. The recycled wood comes from slow-growing pine trees, which means the wood is strong and of good quality. There are many beautiful grain patterns and dense growth rings in the wood, which gives the planks character and creates dynamic in the home when covering walls and ceilings.

EXCEPTIONAL CRAFTSMANSHIP

In MH05 Premium’s chalet apartment, local carpenter Perrin has been involved in every detail related to wood panelling. “Perrin is a great business partner and we are extremely satisfied with his craftsmanship, which is always perfect. He also works in such a way that as little of the wood is wasted as possible. For the same reason, you can see in the home how the wood is sometimes divided into sections of smaller pieces of wood that have been left over. This has been thought out in advance, and therefore the interior harmonises beautifully with the natural deviations of the recycled wood. The unique carpentry work gives the home its own unique and accomplished look.

Below you can see a picture of the recycled wood, which is divided into sections in the bedroom to harmonise with the interior.

RUSTIC SURFACES

If you look closely, you can clearly see the beautiful details in the wood panelling. The recycled wood has been sanded with a rough planer and then oiled, but is otherwise untreated and stands as it would naturally. This gives the right rustic style that we create in the homes, which are located in the breathtaking surroundings of Megève. The slightly rustic surface becomes smoother – and even more beautiful – over time. This can be seen, for example, in the wall panelling and in the window sill, where the structure of the wood is revealed.

The picture below shows the windowsill in the living room, where the rustic surface of the wood can be felt.

THE DIFFERENCE IS IN THE DETAIL

However, not everything in the home has rustic surfaces. Together with Perrin, we have created many elegant solutions in the wood panelling that would not have been possible without an experienced carpenter. These details can be seen in the master bedroom in MH05 Premium’s new home, where the headboard is made from one long piece of wood with a built-in radiator cover. With its straight lines and unbroken surface, this detail creates a sense of calm in the room and appears razor-sharp.

The carpenter also built the kitchen with wood panelling, which is one of the only things in the home that is not made from recycled wood, but which fits in well with the materials and style of the home. The kitchen has many aesthetic details, such as the built-in cooker hood and ventilation, which are cut directly into the wood and almost invisibly located in the base of the kitchen.

In the photo gallery, you can see the examples described in the above section as well as more examples of the fine details in the carpentry work.

Megève

It’s always a happy day when a project is completed and we can welcome the owners into their new home.

When a home is ready, it is photographed and the images are collected in a beautiful photo book. They give a good impression of what you can expect as a co-owner of five luxury homes in Europe.
