In MyHomes, we carefully select locations based on considerations of the area’s diversity, attractions, culture, nature, and gastronomy, all of which are important parameters to provide MyHomes owners with the best conditions for an unforgettable vacation.

Spain’s largest island, Mallorca, is one of our latest additions to the palette of locations. The popular holiday classic is now part of several associations, most recently MH17 Comfort.

NATURE EXPERIENCES YOU WILL NEVER FORGET

Southeast of Spain, Mallorca is beautifully situated in the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean and is framed by the two mountain ranges, Serres de Llevant and Serra de Tramuntana, which protect the island’s center from cold winds. The famous Tramuntana Mountains stretch along Mallorca’s northwestern coast, shaping steep cliffs and small coves. Between the mountain slopes, fertile valleys emerge, where oranges, lemons, and tomatoes grow. The mountain formation Serres de Llevant marks the island’s northeastern side with its hilly terrain, creating a string of naturally protected sandy beaches.

Mallorca’s coastline is longer than 550 kilometers, making it home to several hundred inviting beaches, such as the 14-kilometer-long beach in Alcúdia, a popular destination for travel-hungry families. The beaches on Mallorca vary greatly in appearance, so you may come across beaches with white, fine sand, and others with golden, coarse sand or naturally covered with stones. Mallorca also offers cozy beaches with dunes and pine trees if you prefer shade and privacy. The beaches generally differ in whether they are peaceful and scenic or well-visited and touristy with large hotels.

Mallorca’s mild subtropical climate ensures long, hot, dry summers and short, humid winters.

MALLORCA HAS IT ALL

The Spanish holiday island offers many attractions that people of all ages can enjoy. In addition to the many unspoiled nature experiences, Mallorca is known as a paradise for sports enthusiasts who take advantage of the mild climate to start their favorite sport’s season early. For example, the golf and cycling seasons begin as early as February and March. The many winding mountain roads also lend themselves to fantastic hiking or adventures in bumpy four-wheel drives. If you’re in need of a peaceful vacation, you can visit the sleepy and charming towns, go sightseeing in the old trams, or sunbathe on the island’s countless beaches.

Many of Mallorca’s attractions should be experienced from the gentle crystal-clear sea that surrounds the island. If you enjoy sailing, you can try everything from one of the many cruises to the majestic catamarans. You can also rent a boat and explore the beautiful island. The conditions for snorkeling are ideal, and there are guided tours, such as swimming trips in the sea caves of Cova de Coloms, where you are taken through a network of underground caves.

Mallorca is a big enough island that most people prefer to have a car available, but the main city, Palma de Mallorca, is not so big that you can’t experience it on foot or by bike. All MyHomes’ properties in Mallorca have their own bicycles, which can be used for excursions or exercise. If you want a grand excursion, you can take the old vintage train from Palma to the town of Sóller on the north coast. With materials of mahogany and brass, the old train carriages are almost as beautiful as the unspoiled nature you travel through on the 27-kilometer-long railway.

RICH IN CULTURE AND GASTRONOMY

Mallorca is also rich in culture and architecture, and you can visit colorful markets, old churches or cathedrals, and much more. Some of the island’s top attractions include the enchanting Bellver Castle, the Gothic church Basilica de Sant Francesc from 1281, and the Roman Catholic Cathedral Santa Maria in Palma. You can slow down the pace and visit Jardines de Alfabia, which is a historic estate with large beautiful botanical gardens and an orchard.

Most visitors may not know it, but Mallorca offers culinary experiences of a special class. Eight restaurants proudly display Michelin stars, and many more restaurants are on the verge of joining the famous food guide. Spanish cuisine offers many culinary experiences but often makes use of local ingredients such as fresh fish and seafood, flavorful fruits and vegetables, as well as delicious Spanish sausages and ham. In Palma de Mallorca, you’re never far from the best restaurants, which are often secluded and surprise with simple and local dishes, or they are intimate, characterized by a great atmosphere with light, music, and delicious food.

In the middle of the island, the terrain is flat and rich with warm temperatures, making it possible to cultivate wine. If you are interested in wine, you can visit one of Mallorca’s wineries and taste the island’s sweet grapes.

As an owner of MyHomes properties, you can also choose to cook at home in your own accommodation when staying in Mallorca. All our properties have fully equipped kitchens so you can take care of the gastronomic experiences yourself. There are plenty of opportunities to buy delicious fish and vegetables that can be prepared in the kitchen or on the grill.

Typically, we explore the area stretching from Port de Soller to Port d’Andratx on the west/southwest coastline.
