Bolette Holck is an owner in one of our Comfort associations. We’ve met Bolette and asked her what it’s like to own shared holiday homes. You can read Bolette’s story below, where she tells us about what she appreciates most and what has surprised her.

It means a lot to know that when we arrive at the homes, everything is just fine. You don’t risk being disappointed by what you find at a hotel. When we’re in MyHomes’ homes, it’s a bit like coming home.

There’s a fully equipped kitchen where you can make any meal. Whether it’s a springform pan for baking a cake. Everything has been thought of, and I find that really nice.

“There’s a ease to traveling this way”.

We always only have a carry-on suitcase so we don’t have to check in luggage. That’s possible because everything is in the homes. That way, we optimize our time and make the most of it. There’s an ease to traveling that way.

It’s really relaxing to know that you’re familiar with the surroundings and can easily find the bakery and supermarket. You also don’t have to do everything in one trip because you know you’ll come back again and again. Time isn’t as crucial, and it feels really relaxing.

My husband and I have been to all five homes several times, and we’ve also often taken 14 days in a row. There’s plenty of opportunity for that when you’re not solely dependent on choosing school holidays.

“It’s not a problem if it gets a little cold and dark in the evening, because you have a lovely home to retreat to”.

It has pleasantly surprised me how easy and lovely it is to travel outside of the peak season. It’s not a problem if it gets a little cold and dark in the evening, because you have a lovely home to retreat to. You can walk around in shorts and a dress during the day, and it’s okay if it gets cold in the evening. You won’t experience that at a hotel. Now we’re at home in the evenings and enjoying ourselves.

The homes are arranged so that you can easily have friends over. As a starting point, you have your own room and bathroom—even in a Comfort home. That makes it REALLY easy to travel with someone.

The homes cater to a lot of needs. They’re not bigger than it’s cozy to just be two, but they also provide ample opportunity to travel with friends or have family along. Especially the country house in Piemonte is very suitable for families.

“I wouldn’t like to have a giant apartment if it’s just my husband and me traveling”.

With five homes available, it’s clear that you’ll have some favorites, and you don’t have to like them all equally. My sense is that all owners have their favorite homes, which they book the most. For example, I love Barcelona and Villefranche. Here, it’s a plus that we don’t need a car. The country house in Piemonte is also really lovely, and Mallorca is wonderful. However, I could have wished that our apartment was in Port de Sóller, as it’s my favorite area in Mallorca. There’s no doubt that all the homes and locations offer something different, and we appreciate that. And with five homes available, it’s clear that you’ll have some favorites, and you don’t have to use them all equally.

Every time you visit your homes, you learn something new. For example, last time we were in Barcelona, we met a man who is a project manager for green roof projects. We had an exciting tour and learned something new. That’s what’s so great about having your own place to come back to. You see different things each time and get to know the locals.

“It’s reassuring to know that MyHomes handles all the practical matters and is there when we need help.”

One last thing I’d like to mention is that it’s reassuring to know that MyHomes manage all the practical matters and is there when we need help.

At one point, we were in Piemonte during a terrible storm. When lightning struck, everything went out—power, internet, etc.—and we had trouble finding the circuit breakers. I have to admit that we hadn’t prepared in advance, even though there’s a detailed manual for the homes where such things are explained, but we hadn’t done it.

I can only say that the way MyHomes Support managed the situation immediately was exemplary. Because of the severe storm, I thought no one would come out to fix it right away. But they did, and within an hour, it was sorted out.

I’ve never experienced such efficiency. The people who came out were the same ones who had installed the system, so they knew the house and the installations. I think that’s one of the many advantages of owning MyHomes homes. The cooperative relationships MyHomes has established benefit us owners. I actually believe that you get slightly better service than if you were “just” a private owner of a property.
