International interest in co-ownership

Something interesting is happening in the way we think about ownership. More and more people – both in Denmark and internationally – are choosing to share vacation homes rather than owning them themselves. Not as a compromise, but as a conscious choice. A choice for flexibility, less complexity, and more quality in the time we actually have.

It is precisely this development that is the focus of a new article in the American media outlet Mansion Global, where MyHomes is mentioned in connection with co-ownership of vacation homes in Europe. The article is particularly interesting because it points to something bigger than a company or a concept.

Shared ownership, co-ownership, fractional ownership

Many people are now aware of the advantages of sharing accommodation with others and prioritize experiences, togetherness, and time with family over traditional home ownership for its own sake. It makes sense to have accommodation in several places and share the responsibility, finances, and maintenance with others.

In this context, sharing is not about giving up, but about choosing. It is about using your resources on things that add real value to your everyday life and vacations. For many, this is precisely what makes the dream of a home abroad both more accessible and more meaningful. The trend is therefore clear both at home and abroad, and new players are constantly emerging with different types of sharing concepts.

What Is MyHomes?

MyHomes is a Scandinavian concept for shared ownership, where you as a co-owner get access to five carefully selected vacation homes in Europe – with Scandinavian aesthetics and personal service as the focus. The model is simple, transparent, and built to meet the owners needs for freedom and comfort.

MyHomes has existed for more than 10 years and is today a well-managed company with a stable group of owners and continuous development. We have a solid foundation and a clear ambition to offer more people a more flexible and meaningful way to own holiday homes.

With 29 owners sharing five properties, we have found a sweet spot that ensures optimal availability and use of the properties. This gives each co-owner the opportunity to stay for up to 20 weeks per year, with an average stay of 9 weeks.

How does MyHomes differentiate itself from August Collection and Lazazu?

Both the British company August Collection and the French company Lazazu offer modern forms of co-ownership of vacation homes, and like us, they are seeing growing interest in high-quality shared homes and vacation home communities. This is why these two companies – along with MyHomes – are mentioned in Mansion Global’s article as examples of the growing movement toward shared ownership across national borders.

However, whereas their associations typically have fewer owners and fewer homes per collection, at MyHomes we have chosen a more balanced model that offers greater flexibility and better capacity utilization without compromising on availability.

At the same time, we are clearly rooted in the Scandinavian approach and lifestyle. All homes in a MyHomes association are selected and furnished with a focus on tranquility, quality, and functionality – combined with local details that respect the architecture, culture, and surroundings of the homes.

Long-lasting and trusted relationships

We place great emphasis on the relational experience. As a Danish company with a dedicated team that manages the operation of the properties, we are close to both the properties and the owners. This means transparency, presence, and a personal approach – not just in the service we provide, but in the entire experience of being a co-owner. It is not just about ownership, but about trust, security, and long-term relationships.

This approach is what led Mansion Global to feature MyHomes as the only Scandinavian company in its article on the growing trend of co-ownership in Europe.
