We are simply impressed

Two new homes in Villefranche-sur-Mer have just been occupied by their first owners, and we’ve interviewed one of the families. From their new Premium residence, they share their experiences as owners and their first visit to their Southern French home.

Anna Dorthe and Jesper Hvid Nielsen are owners in one of our newer Premium associations and have previously been part of the first Premium association in MyHomes. Together, Dorthe and Jesper have three older children aged 15, 18, and 20, whom they enjoy vacationing with. Wanting to offer vacations to partners, parents, and friends as well, they opted for the spacious Premium association that meets their needs.

We’ve asked them why they chose to sell a share to buy a new one, about their experiences with owning properties on a shared basis, and what they think of their brand-new residence in Villefranche.

How have you experienced the process of selling a share?

Jesper: “Initially, we hadn’t considered selling our share, but we received an offer from a buyer who was eager to enter a Premium, and we couldn’t say no to that. It turned out to be a really good deal. The transaction itself went quickly and incredibly smoothly. It was very professionally handled by MyHomes, so it was a manageable task to sell the share.”

What’s it like to start over with a new association?

Anna Dorthe: “For me, it was actually a concern. Alle the homes we had been in were so well done, and the locations were top-notch, so I had a hard time imagining that I could be just as happy in a new owner association. But we are. Right now we’re on our first stay in Villefranche and it’s absolutely fantastic.”

Jesper: “Of course, you want your properties as soon as possible once the decision is made, but I would also say that it’s exciting to be part of the process. Recently, we received a nice welcome package from MyHomes, which included our new key rack and key tags for the five locations. It was beautifully done and gave us an excited feeling, so we’re looking forward to the whole process and especially the homes.”

Anna Dorthe: “Even though you want the homes to be finished right away, there’s also something psychological about being involved in the process of finding and renovating them. You feel like a part of it. You’re informed and included – you’re on the journey.”

Advantages of the MyHomes concept?

Anna Dorthe: “You get properties that are in a completely different league than if you were to buy them yourself. Both in terms of interior design and location. We get much more than we could finance ourselves, and everything is provided in the property. It’s something that can be annoying when renting vacation homes if the most basic things are missing.”

Jesper: “And then there’s the convenience. Everything is taken care of – every detail has been thought of. Everything is immaculate, and you can really relax on your vacation.”

Disadvantages of a shared concept?

Jesper: “You need to plan well in advance, and there’s limited opportunity to be spontaneous.”

Anna Dorthe: “But that being said, we’ve always gotten our first or second priority in the first owner association, so the disadvantages aren’t very significant in practice; it’s more of a mental adjustment to get used to planning.”

Do you ever think about the fact that you are sharing with others?

Anna Dorthe: “No, I actually don’t. In fact, one of the first things I thought about when we arrived in Villefranche this week was to take some pictures and share with the others and tell them how great it is here. But during the day, I don’t think about it; then I think that it’s ours.”

Jesper: “Maybe you even take extra good care of the homes because you have a collective responsibility to treat them with respect.”

How was the experience when you arrived at your new home in Villefranche?

Anna Dorthe: “The experience actually starts before you even arrive at the location. You are guided right from the start because you receive a welcome email from MyHomes with all the information you need. You are guided from the road and in, and that means a lot, especially if you arrive late. There is a very high level of information.”

Jesper: “When you step into the homes, you just experience that wow effect. It feels homely, even though you arrive for the first time.”

Anna Dorthe: “It’s our ‘home away from home’. The interior design is comprehensive, and the style of MyHomes homes is stylish and easy on the eye. It’s just super nice.”

Jesper: “The view from our home here in Villefranche is almost enough to bring tears to your eyes. It’s completely magical. We are up high and can look down over the old town, but it’s still possible to get down there in 10 minutes.”

How do you experience the location?

Jesper: “We have previously had our own home on the other side of Nice, so we know the area well. Villefranche-sur-Mer has something very special, and our MyHomes home is located with a super beautiful view and sun on the terrace all day. It’s especially nice at this time of year. In addition, the home has its own parking space with sea views, simply luxury.

We are also very close to the train station without being bothered by it because the home is located so high up. You actually don’t need to have a car down here, as the train reaches from Nice Airport to here in 10 minutes. It’s super easy and convenient.”
